Glass
Material produced by the complete fusion of raw materials at high temperature into a homogeneous liquid which is then cooled to a rigid condition, essentially without crystallization. The designation glass used to be reserved to inorganic products, nowadays, materials like acrylic glass or glass-like solidified organic media (matrixes) are designated organic glasses. From the technical point of view, the non-metallic product glass is defined as a homogeneous, non-crystalline, brittle solid of high transparency, low thermal and electrical conductivity, high resistance against air, water and most liquids, and good plasticity at higher temperature.
